Lattice Masts

The lattice masts installed by ISTOS RENEWABLES have been developed by experienced engineers. The static sufficiency has been studied in accordance with:

• Eurocode 3: Design of steel structure (ΕΝ 1993)

• Eurocode 1: Actions on structures (ΕΝ 1991)

Technical Specifications

• Weight of a 4m section: 60 kg (approx)

• Steel grade: S355 for 60mm tubes (with tensile test certificate by accredited lab)

• Treatment: electrolytic zinc plating after welding

• Final treatment: electrostatic paint in colours UV resistant and compliant with Civil Aviation Agency demands (Red & White).

Design & Development

For the realization of the strength study, a 3D F.E. model of the lattice mast was constructed, on which were placed the restrictions and the loads (gravity, ice and wind).

Stresses were calculated and evaluated (Nastran solver) to determine the static sufficiency of the structure.

Apart from the lattice elements and wire-ropes as an assembly, simulations of significant parts (component analysis) have been carried out, like as guy-wire adaptor plates, base of erection. By this way, the risk of ignoring a weak point is eliminated.

Construction and Quality Control



  • The construction of our Lattice masts is carried out in our local factory based on our construction standards under our full supervision.
  • The tubes and welds of our lattice masts are subjected to quality control by an accredited laboratory
